America is Special

America is special because our rights come from God, but those rights must be protected by a central government that serves the people.

The Founders believed America to be exceptional, but some students are now being taught "multiculturalism" the idea that no culture or country is superior to or better than another. An example, Howard Zinn a historian and author of A people's history of the United States, which is widely used in classrooms has stated that the United States is so morally flawed that it cannot possibly be exceptional.

My question is "What Makes Us Exceptional?"

To answer this question requires us to get into what makes us who we are as Americans. On the premise that yes we might be morally flawed, we are human, therefore not perfect. When we err we try to err on the side of freedom as opposed to other places in this world that err on the side of dogma. For us to be the shining example our Forefathers knew we could be, we have to be what they were. Not lawyers, not doctors, not inventors, not diplomats, but people of virtue, people who stand for something, we have to be people who believe in Our God, our families, our country. And, we have to be people who will defend the rights of others as well as our own. We have always been looked to as an example not because of our military might, nor our economic blessings, nor our statesmen and women, but because of our reaction to things like 9-11, Katrina, earthquakes, and floods, famine, and other natural disasters around the world when the people of the United States lent a hand, and asked nothing in return. Largest example I can think of, Chile and mining disaster. These things are what makes Americans who they are, our identity comes from what we do in the face of adversity. In today's world we look to Europe, and the Middle East and see rioting, mayhem, and udder disregard for order, and watch as these situations deteriorate into chaos. Another question, are we capable to get through our home grown crisis with dignity and grace or will we also succumb to the anarchy we see around the world. I know there are those who are committed to the "Fundamental Change" within the United States, starting with the current President and working the way down the list of his confidants, such as Bill Ayers and his wife, Van Jones, Richard Trumka, and others, who by their own admission are opposed to the current standards of the United States and Capitalism and are strongly committed to bringing it to an end. But what about the others, the ones behind the scenes who use their position to cause disruptions that detract from the efforts of those who are trying to fix the situation. People like George Soros, Ben Berenake, and of course Timothy Geithner all of whom seem completely absorbed in doing all they can to upset the economic stability of the United States. We have both external and internal impediments to successfully decreasing the current situation which I feel is designed to bring America to it's collective knees. There are other such impediments namely in the Department of Justice, and the State Department that rank equally with the fore mentioned individuals that will also require some stiff reasoning, but prior to that, we as citizens must prepare ourselves to defend our identity as Americans, and also our lifestyle. The only way I feel we can accomplish this is to prepare ourselves by knowing who and what we are and from where we get the privilege to be Americans, which is why we must familiarize ourselves with the Constitution of the United States of America, and the Declaration of Independence. Without these documents, we have nothing to stand on.
